Memory benchmarks

Memory Frequency

OS: Any windows.

Rules to be aware of: You must use the latest version of CPU-Z, and the name you save your validation file and submit to http://valid.x86.fr/ with must match your hwbot username. Please also read the full rules at http://hwbot.org/news/8633_application_21_rules/

Tips & Tweaks:

  • CPU-Z validation is lighter than windows startup, so you can usually get a bit higher using an in-OS software overclocking utility such as SetFSB on older platforms, AMD overdrive/ryzen master or Intel XTU on more modern platforms, or software provided by your mobo maker
  • To make validation even lighter, you can add the line "XOC=1" to cpuz.ini, or select extreme oc mode on the validation page
  • After validation, close and repoen CPU-Z for it to remember your name and email
  • The F7 key saves a validation file in the current directory. It does take a moment just like regular validation so be patient before pushing more clock
  • Setting a low maxmem value with msconfig improves memory stability

MaxxMem

OS: Windows XP SP3. NB: 8 and 10 are not allowed for MaxxMem on most CPUs

Tips & Tweaks:

  • Your score is the number of MaxxMEM^^2 marks shown on the 'submit' window, circled here.

MaxxMem Read Bandwidth

OS: Windows XP SP3. NB: 8 and 10 are not allowed for MaxxMem on most CPUs

Tips & Tweaks:

  • This is a pretty variable benchmark and needs a lot of rerunning.

  • CPU and cache speed matter.

  • Timings matter.

  • On legacy AMD platforms, set your memory controller to ganged mode.

  • For DDR2 AM2 gets much scores for a given frequency, although 775 can generally hit higher frequency.

  • The scaling for many-channel platforms seems to be pretty poor, dual channel and high performance settings is best.

AIDA64 - Memory Read

OS: NB: 8 and 10 are not allowed for AIDA64 on most CPUs
