Adjusting LOD bias values on Nvidia GPUs

Note

This content is taken from the original r/overclocking subreddit wiki as last edited on September 22 2018.

You will need Nvidia Inspector, linked here is an older version that has increased LOD range for competitive benchmarking.

Methodology

Open Nvidia Inspector and click the button to open the profile inspector, if you wish you can choose or create profiles for specific games/benchmarks otherwise use the GLOBAL profile.

Using Nvidia Inspector set "Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling" to either "AA_REPLAY_MODE_ALL" or "2x Sparse Grid Supersampling", it's best to play around with these two value t

Then with "Texture Filtering - LOD bias" choose a number greater than 0.

Some benchmarks score higher with differing LOD bias values, please feel free to experiment as your mileage may vary. Listed in the below table are some suggested values for certain benchmarks.

Benchmark Transparency Supersampling LOD bias value
3DMark Firestrike AA_REPLAY_MODE_ALL 3
3DMark Sky Diver AA_REPLAY_MODE_ALL 15
3DMark Cloud Gate AA_REPLAY_MODE_ALL 15
3DMark11 AA_REPLAY_MODE_ALL 15
3DMark Vantage AA_REPLAY_MODE_ALL 5
3DMark03 27
Unigine Heaven Xtreme 15
Unigine Heaven Basic 15
Aquamark 27
